Immediate Aftercare: The First 24 Hours
Leave the Bandage On: Your artist will cover your tattoo with a bandage or wrap. Keep this on for at least 2–4 hours, or as advised.
First Wash: After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, antibacterial soap. Use your hands, not a washcloth, to avoid irritation. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
💧 Days 1–7: Cleaning and Moisturizing
Regular Cleaning: Wash your tattoo twice daily with mild soap and lukewarm water. Always ensure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo.
Moisturize: After cleaning, apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free, non-petroleum-based moisturizer or Tattoo Temple Wax. Avoid over-moisturizing.
Avoid Submersion: Do not soak your tattoo in water. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and baths during this period.
🛡️ Weeks 2–4: Healing and Protection
Peeling and Itching: It's normal for your tattoo to peel and itch. Do not scratch or pick at it, as this can cause scarring or color loss.
Sun Protection: Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. After it's fully healed, always apply a high-SPF sunscreen to prevent fading.
Clothing: Wear loose, clean clothing to prevent friction and allow your tattoo to breathe.
⚠️ Signs of Infection
Be vigilant for the following symptoms:
Excessive redness or swelling beyond the tattooed area
Pus or unusual discharge
Persistent pain or a foul odor
If you notice any of these signs, consult a healthcare professional promptly.
🖼️ Long-Term Tattoo Maintenance
Hydration: Keep your skin moisturized to maintain the tattoo's appearance.
Sun Exposure: Limit sun exposure and use sunscreen to prevent fading.
Healthy Lifestyle: Maintain a balanced diet and stay hydrated to support skin health.
By following these aftercare steps, you can ensure your tattoo heals properly and remains vibrant for years to come. If you have any questions or need personalized advice, feel free to reach out to us at Tattoo Temple India.
